GBL-Designed Mixed-Use Mid-Rise Approved for South Granville
An 11-storey mixed-use development designed by GBL Architects, has been approved by the City on Granville Street, mid-block between 70th and 71st avenues. It will consist of up to four ground level commercial units and one floor of office space, with nine storeys of condominiums built over four levels of underground parking. Fifty-five strata-titled residences from one to three bedrooms are included with consistent layouts for greater economy and efficiency.
This development has been guided by a community plan that envisions the creation of a new neighbourhood centre with higher densities and mixed uses along Granville Street between West 62nd Avenue and West 71st Avenue. As the social heart, it will be enhanced with a variety of restaurants, shops, services, and a mix of housing with strong walking and cycling connections to parks, schools, and the Fraser River. Westbank’s redevelopment of the Safeway. one block north at Granville and 70th, was the first major project in this direction.
