A Shared Vision
In the spirit of collaboration, a local group of designers are working together with a boutique development team to create something thoughtful and beautifully simple – a creative community. Assembly, located across the street from Admiral Seymour Elementary School, is a community of city homes set over local merchants. Our mission is to be an authentic part of Strathcona, one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods, by embracing its industrial roots and eastside creativity. Assembly Strathcona is a collection of 40 courtyard townhomes and condos and 11 local merchant spaces.
Located at the corner of Glen Drive and East Georgia Street in one of Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhoods, Assembly is adjacent to the 110-year-old Admiral Seymour Elementary School which sits on a quiet tree-lined street with little through traffic. Community amenities, such as parks, community centres, schools, and community gardens are all within walking distance. Amenities at Assembly
Residents will have shared use of a small ground floor gym and a mezzanine-level indoor multi-purpose room that features a lounge, dining area, and a kitchen. A second level courtyard will provide generous space for gathering and a children’s playground in the centre, surrounded by seating areas, various landscaping, and walkways.
At ground level, an innovative mews with skylights offers open-air corridors between production spaces for workers, residents, and the public. Across East Georgia Street, Admiral Seymour Elementary School has play facilities that include a basketball court, playground, swings, and a sports field.

One level of underground parking will provide space for 52 bicycles and 79 vehicles, of which 38 stalls will be for residents, 22 for office/retail tenants, and 19 for restaurant workers and patrons. At ground level, there will be racks for 12 bicycles and 2 loading bays on the lane.

EKISTICS’ philosophy is to strike a balance between people and natural systems, by applying sound ecological planning principles which stress the alliance of science, technology, economics, sociology, and design. Some of their projects featured here include The Admiral, Beaufort Landing, Gardner, and Anthem’s Wood & Water.
