Thirty-five Condominiums Proposed Across from Langara College
Billard Architecture has submitted a rezoning application to the City of Vancouver for a four-storey, mixed-use, woodframe lowrise at the corner of West 49th Avenue and Manitoba Street. It will replace three single-family homes with 35 condominiums and 5,658 sq ft of ground floor retail space facing 49th Avenue, built over two levels of underground parking.
Called Langara House, this project is guided by the intent of the Cambie Corridor Plan to transform single-family neighbourhoods into vibrant, mixed-use communities with a diverse range of housing types. Combined with other developments in the vicinity of Langara-49th Avenue Station, we are seeing an increase in the area’s housing supply, as well as expanded street-level amenities and community facilities, such as at the redeveloped Langara Family YMCA. Nearby bike lanes, bus routes, and rapid transit help to enhance the sustainability of complete, compact communities.
