Courtyard between the Dairy Building and the Stable Building of the redeveloped Turners Dairy in Vancouver's Riley Park neighbourhood.

Progressive Meets Heritage

Located at the corner of West 17th Avenue and Ontario Street, the Turner Dairy Farm was constructed in 1913 during the pre-First World War development boom that swept across Vancouver. It is a rare surviving example of a purpose-built dairy of the Edwardian period that has been in continuous industrial use since its completion.

Current owners, Hassan and Amir Hemani, worked here assembling leather handbags for their family’s business which operated from 1978 until 1998. Now, they have a vision to see the Turner Dairy rehabilitated and actively used as a legacy to the site and their family’s connection to it.
